Lamb steak with red wine reduction sauce

Hi friends! Ever been stuck with left over wine and not know what to do with it? A good way to make sure you fully utilize your wine is to cook with it. I love cooking with wine because when done right, it brings amazing flavor to your dishes or even salad dressing. This time, i used my leftover red wine to make a reduction sauce for a lamb steak. Here is what i did…

  • 1/2 small onion
  • 1 clove minced garlic
  • 1 cup red wine
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • honey (optional)
  • lamb steaks
  • olive oil

  1. For the sauce: saute onion and garlic till onion is translucent and then add red wine, salt and pepper
  2. Reduce heat and let it come down to half the amount you began with
  3. Add about a tspn butter and honey; mix and then set aside

  • For the steaks: Heat oil in pan and then add your clean and dried steaks ( i think the cut i used was shoulder steaks which can cook firm if overcooked…something i have now learned the hard way because i do not like well done steak)
  • Season with salt and pepper (I used a steak seasoning)
  • For 5 minutes, cook on med to high heat, flip the meat and then put in a 400 degree oven for about 15-20 minutes

Right before serving, pour some of the reduced sauce on top of steak and serve with side of choice 🙂

Bon Appetit!!!
